Playing the Game:

The object of this game is to land your ship on one of three landing pads in order to rescue colonists fleeing from disaster. First, select a colony in need of assistance. Try "Asteroid Z" first as it is the easiest. Your ship is a simple design with only one main thruster underneath the ship. To change direction, you must rotate the ship and fire the thruster. Use the controls at the bottom of the screen to land your ship. The arrow icons will rotate the ship and the wedge (on the bottom left) will fire the thruster. The pattern changes on the thrust icon enable three different levels of thrust. Tap the large end for maximum thrust and the small end for minumum. Watch the fuel guage at the top of the screen as well. Your ship must be upright and barely moving when you land. Your promotion is determined by your score for each mission. Since it is more difficult to land on small landing pads, you will get more points for the rescue of colonists at the smaller pads.

Installation:

These instructions apply to installation under Windows 9x. Users of other systems will need to alter these instuctions to their own system. To run this program, you must have the Shareware Pocket C 2.0 or the Freeware Pocket C run time 2.0 (included) installed on your Pilot. This Program will only run on Palm OS 2.0 or higher. It will not run correctly on an original pilot 500 or 1000. Please read the PocketC documentation as well "ReadmeC.txt"

Files needed to run the application (About 40K Total):

--PocketCRT.PRC (30K Pocket C runtime. Install this only if Pocket C 2.0 or higher is not

already installed. Only 1 copy of this file is required on your Palm OS device. It

can be used with other Pocket C applications as well.)

--RescueIcon.PRC(This file provides an Icon from the Applications menu on the Palm device.)

--Rescue11u.PDB (This is the compiled Pocket C main program file, unregistered version.)

Step by step instructions:

1) HotSync your Palm OS device before installing the software.

2) Click on the Palm Pilot Install Tool on your desktop. This file should be located in your "Palm Desktop" or "Palm Pilot Desktop" folder under the Window Start Menu.

3) If you do not already have Pocket C 2.0 or Pocket C Runtime 2.0 installed, use the Install Tool to install "PocketCRT.PRC"

4) Continue using the Install Tool to install the files "RescueIcon.PRC" and "Rescue11r.PDB" (Other Pocket C run time files included with this program are not needed and do not need to be installed. See ReadmeC.txt for details.)

5) When complete, HotSync to transfer the program to your Palm OS device.

6) Tap the Rescue Lander icon and enjoy. (This program can also be run from the PocketC menu.)
