Fighter Squadron Plane Pack 6.0
Plane Pack 6.0 is a free add-on for Fighter Squadron.
Installer Notes:
******************************
In order to assure online compatiblity the installer renames the following folders:
Aircraft to oldAircraftpp6
Hangar to oldHangar
Training to oldTraining
Vehicles to oldVehicles
The installer also has an option to back up the old par files from PlanePack 5.3 and Contest Pack 1.1 to allow you to restore to the previous online standard after uninstalling Plane Pack 6.
The installer will also rename your startup.ppf and sounds.ppf to startup.old and sounds.old and replace them with the latest versions of these two files.
Plane Pack 6 includes several planes and features that required special keyboard mappings. The installer will prompt you to use the defualt mappings or to define your own. Before the installer modifies your keyboard.inp it will back it up to keyboard.bak in your root FS directory. The default keyboard assignments are:
Canopy Toggle =Q
Tailhook Toggle =O
Fold Wings =W
Wing Fold Up =SHIFT W
Wing Fold down =CTRL W
cmdBomb (Mistel) =A
Several of the Aircraft in Plane Pack 6 have optional addons such as high and low res cockpits or canopys. In order to simplify things for new users the installer will install program groups for each plane (that includes options) in your Fighter Squadron program group with icons to install or restore each optional piece. The options include:
A6M5:
Relfective Canopy
Non-Reflective Canopy
Ju87G2:
Reflective Canopy
Non-Reflective Canopy
P47D:
High Res Cockpit
Normal Cockpit
Realistic Cockpit
Yak-3
Reflective Canopy
LowRes Canopy
Onsided Prop
Normal Prop
PropBlur Prop
The isntaller also installs a icon in your Fighter Squadron Program Group to restore pre-plane pack 6 filenames. This batch file is to be run after you uninstall Plane Pack 6 and will delete the current keyboard.inp, startup.ppf, and sounds.ppf as well as the Aircraft, Hangar, Trainging, and Vehicle folders and replace them with the ones that were backed up when you installed Plane Pack 6. This batch file will not work with Plane Pack 6 installed.

Information on fixes from beta
Thanks to everyone for their support and feedback during the "beta" period. It's time to move on to a full release. The following items were fixed / added during the beta period:
1. P51d model was changed (thanks Raider)
2. Ju88a4xv was added (by request) - currently no hangar or training missions exist for this version.
3. Seafire was updated (thanks Mace)
4. Ground objects were significantly changed - this was an area I hadn't covered thoroughly for the beta. Quite a few changes or additions were incorporated. (thanks Nat for all the work you do in this area)
5. A hangar mission and pic without specs was added for the He163.
6. French lanc was fixed to include torpedo and the revised lanc model (thanks ArgonV).
7. The 5.3b Me262 was included (previously the 5.3 version was in).
8. Beaufighters texture references were cleaned up (thanks Bishop).
9. B17F - was returned to the 5.3b version. Wakeup Tailgunner's work on damage modeling in the 17F gives us something to look forward to. Although no significant problems were brought forward, WT's modified version is perhaps a bit too "rough" at this point.
Problems not fixed:
1. Mistel3 has a known multiplayer bug that causes the ju88 dummy to drop on mission start up
2. I'm sure there are others - please report them as you find them on the FSIC forum. Or send me a note by email [email protected] .

Plane pack V6.0 Beta Readme:
Extract the zipfile to your fighter squadron directory.
Remove / rename or otherwise find a new home for the directories pertaining to the following aircraft:
I would suggest, unless you have specific folders for other aircraft not listed below that you remove or rename the following directories from your media folder, if you don't and encounter problems with the pack it will be difficult to determine the cause:
1.Aircraft - for testing - please rename - if you have customized sounds / textures you are in control of your destiny.
2.GUI
3.Hangar
4.Pilot
5.Training
6.Vehicles - see vehicle list below and remove duplicates only

Are there other planes/vehicles/updates that should be included that I have overlooked. If so post please send a note to [email protected] with an appropriate link to the desired file.
Thanks to Roadtoad for giving me permission to include the Ta 152, He162 and Go229 in this planepack. Also thanks to everyone else that continues to put so much effort into making this game what it is.
The format of the planepack is currently as follows:
3 parfiles
1. Data10 with nonstandard components for online play - hangar missions, training etc. This file represents about 10 mb for downloading and if someone is bandwidth compromised perhaps they don't need to grab it right away. This will likely be packed separately to allow this flexibility. For now I have put ground units here. So if you haven't chosen to download this component of the pack, be sure to visit Nat's SDOE site and pick up his many creations.
2. Data11 holding all graphic elements textures and sounds. This represents 30 mb in separate files, 20 mb in the parfile and 15 mb after zipping for download. These aren't specifically checked for compatibility but are kind of required for the plane to work. It is likely many of these files will not change frequently and therefore updates to this file will be less frequent.
3. Data12 all sm, airfoil, loadouts files required for online compatibility, this will also include cockpit files. The parfile is about 30 mb uncompressed and 8 mb for download.
The intent here is to allow updates to the planes without having to download all the components over and over again. If a creator updates the sm file then that is all that needs to be updated and downloaded. In cases where texture files are updated then they will be included in a separate parfile ( or the sm parfile) on a temporary basis until a major update is developed. So in the future more frequent plane pack updates will be on the order of 8 to 12 mb, or less if a fourth parfile is released instead of sending out a full revision of the third file.
I take not credit / blame for the content of this plane pack. With the exception of a few minor loadout changes and tweaks to the lancaster all of the work is that of many others too many too name without forgetting someone
