Info:

-----

I initially started to programm this tool because I didn't like the programs which were available at this time. Then I thought it might be useful for other people too, so I released it. After a while of using the program now, I have added many new functions and the program has grown into something which I didn't initially want to create. It has functions to automatically add bots into the map when you use "devmap" on it for example. Another nice feature is, that the program can shut down the machine when the compilers are done. This way your computer will never again run, consume power and produce noise the whole night, where it normally just needs another 2 hours.

I don't want to document and explain all the functions here. They are all pretty much self explanatory. If you need a hint, I've included tool-tips for every button and object in the program's windows.

If you find any bugs and want to tell me about it, please try to explain what you did as much detailed as you are able to. Keep in mind that I need to be able to reproduce your problem here to see what the cause is.

Instructions:

-------------

First you need to make sure that you have the VisualBasic6 runtime libs installed on your computer. If you have Windows98se installed, I know that you have the libs. If you are not sure, you can get them at: http://support.microsoft.com/download/support/mslfiles/Vbrun60.exe

To install the program, simply unzip all files of this archieve to any location you wish. Make sure you have "User Folders" checked in WinZip!. After starting the program for the first time, you will be prompted to locate your Quake3.exe file. For advanced configuration choose "Setup" from the menu.

Notes:

------

- I don't know what most of the "custom" options are used for :-) So, don't ask me about them. It is possible that one or more of these options will not work right. If that is true and you want to use it, please let me know and I will fix it.

- The program will produce two files which are necessary for starting Q3a and starting the compilers. The first one is "x:\Quake3Folder\baseq3\q3atoolsgui.cfg" and a second one named "Q3aTGUI.bat" will be produced in the maps folder you are compiling from. I just want you to know what these files are used for. I personally hate to see files on my HD which I can't identify :-)

- The captured bspc output can not be viewed from the internal viewer. If you want to see it, use a custom viewer instead. I don't know if it's me or VisualBasic, but the bspc.log seems to be way to huge to load it into a textbox within a normal period of time. Well, the most important thing for me is, to be able to view the output of BSP,VIS and Light. Especially when I let the program turn off the computer.

- If you use the "Capture output" feature, the compiler's text output will not appear in the dosbox anymore. This is because I redirect the output to a textfile. If you want to see the process in "realtime", you need to turn "capture output" off. The Dosbox will act like you are used to it then. It will also not close when the compilers have done their job.

- Don't try to use any config-files from earlier versions with this one. They are not compatible and the program will act strange or crash.

Known bugs / Things I plan to do:

---------------------------------

- I would LOVE to add a function to STOP and RESUME a compiling process. Unfortunately, I have to change Q3map.exe to get this to work. I never programmed in C++ :-( If there's someone out there who is willing to help me modifying q3map.exe to make things like "Stop & Resume" possible, please contact me !!! You will surely get full credit for your work. Of course, we need to wait for the source code to be released.

- It's not sure at this time, but maybe I have an artist who will do a skin and graphical icons. But, this is of course the lowest priority :-)

- Everything else which comes to mind. If you have an idea and it is not hard to do, I can implement it. Don't hesitate to send any comments or suggestions.
