Version:
2.0, 23 Feb 2005
Requirements:
Tribunal *and* Bloodmoon (or maybe just Bloodmoon)
The Ashlander Tent has no known conflicts with any other mod.
Installation:
Unzip everything in "Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind\Data Files".
(Make sure you unzip with the "folder names" option on, so that icons
go the icons directory, meshes to the meshes, etc.)
Playing the plugin:
From the Morrowind Launcher, select "Data Files" and check the box
next to the "AshlanderTent.esp" file.
If you have plugins loaded that add land masses, you can tell the Ashlander
Tent about those areas to make it load the area faster. Many common plugins
are included, and you should check the relevant esp's too. For example,
"AshlanderTent-Veldion.esp" if you are playing with the "Veldion" plugin.
If a land area of your favorite mod is not included, do not hesitate to
write me and I will provide you with an extension -- if it is not already
added to the Ashlander tent homepage. (modders: you can easily make one
yourself, instructions follow at the end of the readme)
Note: "Lokken" island is included by default.
Description:
A great home for rangers, hunters, rogues, and adventurers (and a nice
change for mages and fighters). Visit Timsar the tent maker to earn your
own custom-made portable Ashlander yurt. You can find him just north of
Falensarano in the Grazelands.
The great thing about the tent is of course that it is mobile: you can
carry it and pitch it anywhere where your adventures bring you. Leave the
tent and you will be at your camp site again, which makes it a great item
to explore the lands of Vvardenfell and Solstheim. In contrast to some
other mobile homes, you will enter and exit just as fast as any other
door. Loading of exterior locations added by other mods is still slow, but
it will work. The tent is fairly heavy but there is enough storage inside
to make up for it. Furthermore, it is very cozy and practical: it has a
return amulet and an ingredients crystal that automatically puts all your
ingredients in an urn. If you are able to complete a quest for Timsar, he
can also extend the tent with a yurt in the void realm: this one has
plenty storage, armor mannequins, display cases, and a teleportation
shrine.
As an extra, you can also find a nice ebony bow and ebony claymore during
the quests for Timsar.
Usage:
To pitch the tent, just drop it somewhere outdoors. You can also pitch
the tent in Mournhold at the temple and Plaza Brindisi Dorom. You can
only pitch the tent at even surfaces and only in first person mode.
You can pack the tent by clicking on the tent itself. The tent is entered
by clicking on the tent door. Of course, everything inside the tent (and
in containers etc) stays where it is, available again when you pitch the
tent again.
Bugs:
- When you leave the tent, the character always faces north.
- When reloading the area, the screen transition may look a bit weird.
- ps33 had a bug where after 72 hours the ingredients urn would be emptied!
However, I have not been able to reproduce this bug. Furthermore, he
could prevent this by always opening the urn after adding ingredients.
Revisions:
2.0, 23 Feb 2005:
Added an extension mechanism to also load locations added by other
plugins really fast.
1.2, 22 Feb 2005:
Fixed bug where exterior locations added by other mods would not load.
1.1, 15 Feb 2005:
Fixed small bug that sometimes caused Timsar to keep building forever.
Thanks to "ps3" for spotting this.
1.0, 13 Feb 2005:
Initially released version.
Cheating:
Not recommended, but if you don't want to do the quests, type in the console:
player->additem "_at_tent_placeholder", 1
set "_at_expansion" to 1
(Do not give yourself two tents, or bad things will happen)
Adding Land Areas:
The Ashlander Tent contains generic code to load any location, but it is
very slow. Therefore, there is special code to quickly load known land
areas. By default this is Vvardenfell and Solstheim (including Lokken).
For land areas added by plugins, the tent can use extension modules that
let it know about these new areas. It is very easy to create such module,
just look at the provided modules to see how to do this. Each such module
contains a single global script with the name "_at_coe_*" where "*" is the
name of the plugin. Furthermore, the script is added to the start scripts.
By looking at the script, it will be obvious how to extend it to function
for new land areas. If the new area is rather large, you should write me
as I have a script that can automatically generate these scripts for you.
If you make an extension script, I will include it in new releases of the
tent.
