Liberty City Tribute

Liberty City Tribute pays homage to Grand Theft Auto III through video of New York City and the game itself.

If you liked Vice City Tribute, then you are going to love Liberty City Tribute. Liberty City Tribute is a unique and original video that pays homage to Grand Theft Auto III. Video of New York City is mixed with comparison shots from GTA III to show the similarities between the real and the game's version.

In the last half of the video, a tribute is given to Grand Theft Auto III which includes cutscenes and gameplay from the game itself. It's like a trailer for the game itself. This is all mixed with some of the best music fit to the subject.

Thanks a lot to ashdexx for his GTA III HUD tool.

Director's Notes:

First off, when the Brooklyn Bridge is compared to the Callahan Bridge, it is well known that they are not based off each other. Also, not all shot-by-shot sections are true comparisons. The store with "Salvatore" written on it has nothing to do with Don Salvatore Leone...its just that they both have the same last names and its a funny connection.

Secondly, it is the Rockstar North logo that is placed near the end of the video, not the Rockstar Games logo.

Third, the Carnegie Delicatessen Restaurant in New York City has a sign that is similar to the Callego Delicatessen Restaurant sign in Vice City. I am not saying that they are one and the same.

Fourth, Grand Central Station and Carnegie Hall are two of the places featured in the video that don't have counterparts in the game (from what I have found). Those two places and the others without comparative counterparts are just there to show more of the city.

Fifth, three of the things not in the video are the boats that the player could drive, Ray and also any phone mission people. Ray was cut from the video because his voice already appears in the beginning, the huge cargo boat is featured enough for the "boat space" in the video, and the phone missions don't have much to offer in the way of video.

Sixth, a lot of people will be asking how I got certain camera angles. I used the Vice City Camera Hack v2.8 which is available at http://www.planetgrandtheftauto.com

Seventh, the shot beginning at 4:44 where the Banshee is flying over the walkway and lands with the train passing was done very carefully. The timing on getting the train to pass at the right time is tricky, but I have figured it out.

Screen Test Volunteers include DigitalD and ElBazo. Music Credit goes to Danny Elfman, Slyder, and E.S. Posthumus. Programs used include FRAPS, Adobe Photoshop, Ulead MediaStudio Pro 7, Vice City Camera Hack v2.8, ashdexx's GTA III HUD Tool, GTA:Liberty City and Winamp. Special thanks to Rockstar North, Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive.
