The BC3KV20DEMO.EXE file is a self-extracting archive. Simple execute it

and when the files have extracted, run the SETUP.EXE program to install.

The SETUP program will install both the software and 3DFX Glide versions. To run

either version, select the appropriate icon in the BC3K folder.

[RUNNING THE DEMO]

This demo runs on the v2.08 preview code release which means that it contains

all the advancements in BC3K v2.0 as of 5/21/99.

You will NEVER be able to patch this demo. It is delivered as is and

UNSUPPORTED. If you like it, you can purchase the full BC3K v2.0 from your local

software store or online at www.interplay.com, www.ebworld.com or www.cdmag.com.

As of this writing, BC3K v2.0 was not available outside the North America but

will probably be available in Europe during this Summer. The sequel,

BATTLECRUISER 3020AD, will be available around the end of this year. For more

This demo MUST be run in debug mode in order to bypass the CD-ROM check and to

prevent the intro from playing. So don't remove the startup parameters in the

startup files. In debug mode you will see a lot of debug info in the camera

views.

The DEMO contains 4 space regions, EARTH, MOON, JUPITER and SYGAN containing 3

PLANETS and 3 MOONS. You can go to MOON and JUPITER from EARTH via jumpgates and

to SYGAN from JUPITER via a wormhole. You can also enter all the planets and

moons by flying straight into them.

You can dock with the 2 friendly stations in EARTH and the MOON regions to trade

and perform repairs. You can only dock with the SYGAN hostile station if you

take it over.

The INTRO is disabled.

XTREME CARNAGE MODE is disabled.

ADVANCED CAMPAIGN MODE is disabled.

The NAVITRON astrogation computer is disabled.

Access to the GAME BUILDER SYSTEM is disabled.

Only the FREE FLIGHT scenario is included.

There is NO multiplayer. Wait for BATTLECRUISER 3020AD.

Fleet Command & Control is enabled. See FLEETCMD.PDF.

Station Capture is enabled. See FLEETCMD.PDF.

Surface Ops is enabled. See SECTION 18 of the manual in the TACOPS computer

section.

[MANUALS]

You must install Adobe Acrobat v3.01 on your computer in order to read the

manuals in the DOCS folder. You can download this from the 3000AD website. This

demo only contains the main manual, Fleet Command & Control manual and the

keyboard commands file. If you are interested in the other appendix files, you

can download them from the 3000AD website.

[SOUND]

Once the installation completes, please go to the BC3K desktop folder created by

the install program and run the SOUND SETUP shortcut in order to set up your

sound card. Be sure to test your sound card when you have configured it. Please

refer to the BC3K FAQ file for troubleshooting.

[2D VIDEO CARD]

BC3K v2.0 supports all new video graphics card in their native mode. If you have

any problems with video please refer to the BC3K FAQ file for troubleshooting.

[3D VIDEO CARD]

BC3K v2.0 only supports 3Dfx Voodoo based cards. These include Voodoo 1, Voodoo

2, Voodoo 3, Voodoo Rush and the Voodoo Banshee. You must have the latest

drivers for your Voodoo card. Please refer to the BC3K FAQ file for

troubleshooting 3Dfx related problems. Unless you have one of the listed 3DFX

based cards, you MUST run the software version only.

WARNING: If you have a Voodoo3 card, you MUST download and apply the Voodoo3

fix available at the 3000AD website or the demo will not run. This is not the

fault of BC3K. The folks at 3Dfx screwed up and shipped a faulty GLIDE2X.OVL

file (which causes several games to not work) in the Voodoo3 driver set. So,

that update file contains the version from the Banshee driver set. Simply

extract it to your C:\WINDOWS folder before running the demo.

[JOYSTICKS]

BC3K does not support digital joysticks in their native mode. If your joystick

refuses to work, please refer to the BC3K FAQ for troubleshooting controller

problems.
