Baldur's Gate II Demo [Part 3 of 7]

The Baldur's Gate II demo covers chapter one of the game in which you must find a way out of your captor's prison. This demo uses a complete version of the game engine so you will be able to create your character, watch the movies, talk with non-player characters and fight. You can import your character and saved game into Baldur's Gate II if you decide to purchase the game. The demo does not have multiplayer enabled. NOTE THAT THIS IS PART 3 OF 7. ALL 7 FILES MUST BE DOWNLOADED FOR THIS DEMO.

...due to overwhelming demand on the FilePlanet servers we've had to make this major announcement. Be Patient! The demo for Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn is a very popular download. It consists of 7 files. Each file must be downloaded completely. If one file is not complete, and you attempt to install it, the process will fail. Please ensure each file is the correct size. You can find the file size posted on each file's download page. If you have an incomplete file, you'll have to re-download it, otherwise the install will not work. The demo was designed for CD-ROM distribution, and there may be unforeseen issues related to online distribution.

If you have already installed the demo and get the "insert CD" error:

1. Run the FilePlanet installer again, it will extract the install files to your temporary directory and start the BG2 installer. Wait until it is done extracting files and the BG2 installer appears.

2. Open your temporary directory, usually c:\windows\temp, although you can find it by typing "%TEMP%" at the START-RUN dialog.

3. Go into the "bginstall" subdirectory of temp.

4. Copy the "CD2" sub-directory elsewhere on your hard drive (you can copy it to your Baldur's Gate 2 install directory if you want). At this point you can cancel / close the BG2 Installer and Fileplanet installer.

5. Edit the "baldur.ini" file in your Baldur's Gate 2 directory. Change the line that says "CD2:=

" to the new location of the CD2

directory.

For example, it may say;

CD2:=C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\BGINSTALL\CD2

... if you copied the CD2 directory to c:\bgate2\CD2 you would edit the line to say:

CD2:=C:\bgate2\CD2

You should now be able to create a character and play the game.
