Daikatana Demo
The noble samurai looked down from Mt. Fujiyama and chanted his final prayers to Amaterasu, goddess of the Sun. In his trembling hands, he grasped the Daikatana, his labor of love. His quest to imbue the sword with the magic of time travel had led him to this cliff, to this ultimate sacrifice. The Daikatana lacked only his soul to become a talisman for all eternity.

The noble samurai looked down from Mt. Fujiyama and chanted his final prayers to Amaterasu,
goddess of the Sun. In his trembling hands, he grasped the Daikatana, his labor of love. His quest
to imbue the sword with the magic of time travel had led him to this cliff, to this ultimate sacrifice.
The Daikatana lacked only his soul to become a talisman for all eternity. With the fierce eye of a
warrior, the samurai thrust the sword deeply into his flesh as drops of fresh blood rained down
from the holy mountain…
In 2455A.D., in the dark, volcanic caverns of Mt. Fujiyama, a seasoned team of archaeologists
searched tirelessly for the mythical Daikatana. Warned by seismologists that the great volcano
would soon erupt, the crews worked against time itself to uncover the sacred, ancient sword.
Deep within a network of caves, the team at last found the Daikatana’s resting-place as steam and
molten rock began to seep through fissures in the walls. Celebration gave way to terror as volcanic
ash began to fall like poison snow. Desperate to deliver the Daikatana and save their own lives, the
archaeologists tried to escape the waking giant. Fujiyama trembled with violent earthquakes as lava
poured through the caves, killing most of the unfortunate workers. The Daikatana, however, was safely
removed and transported eighty miles to Tokyo, where Dr. Toshiro Ebihara and his assistant, Dr. Jarred
Benedict, anxiously awaited its arrival.
Dr. Ebihara, who devoted his professional life to finding the Daikatana and discovering its secret powers,
stared at the sacred sword with a mixture of awe and pride. He had financed nearly a decade of research
and exploration, amounting to millions of dollars, in his attempt to retrieve the lost relic. As heir to the Ebihara
fortune, begun when his distant grandfather, Dr. Tetsuo Ebihara, discovered a cure for AIDS in 2030A.D.,
Toshiro enjoyed the financial independence which allowed him to pursue his dream of finding the Daikatana
and harnessing its power to travel through time. Years of research finally paid off and, within a matter of months,
Ebihara and Benedict successfully mastered the secrets of the Daikatana and began planning their time travels.
Having attained his dream of finding the ancient sword, Toshiro decided his first excursion through time should
be to go back to 2030 and thank his ancestor, not only for solving the last great epidemic, but also for providing
for his descendants with the financial security necessary to follow in his legacy of humanitarianism.
Dr. Benedict, however, was tired of living in Ebihara’s shadow, of doing all the work while Toshiro received all
the credit, and was sickened by this display of sentimentality. In the twilight shadows of the lab, consumed by
jealous rage, Benedict seized the Daikatana and beheaded Dr. Ebihara. As he stood over the corpse, a sinister
grin spread over his face. He would fulfill Toshiro’s plan of traveling back to 2030, but not to give thanks.
After traveling back over four centuries, Benedict arrived in 2030 with full knowledge of what he must do.
Using his advanced technological skills, he broke into Vincent Ebihara’s lab and stole his cure, then erased
the old doctor’s files, destroying years of research. Within a week, Benedict presented his stolen cure to the
medical world and was hailed as a hero. Within a few months, he was rich beyond his wildest dreams and, more
importantly, still in possession of the Daikatana.
With his immense wealth, Benedict constructed a fortress to protect his descendants and the sacred sword. A plaque,
engraved in gold, warns his descendants to guard the Daikatana forever so that their history may never be altered. As
protectors of the mystical sword, his descendants have enjoyed his massive inheritance ever since.
