NOTES:

Darklands is a classic. It's engine was like none other, incorperating text adventure, 3D fighting/castle modes and a massive map to go wandering about in. The music was memorable ofcourse, and most of the tunes were arrangments of 13th-16th century compositions. I chose to remix one of the travelling themes, which is entitled "L'homme Arme" which I believe is French for "The Armed Man" and was originally composed by Guillaume Dufay. It was a really catchy tune that just played as you travelled across the map, waiting for some sorry ass bandits to get in your way. I chose Guided By Saints as the mix title since it was also a very unique and amazing feature in Darklands. They always helped me out when I was in trouble.

Very delicate and simple tune, and most of it was pretty easy to track aswell. I got a hold of a midi that was a slight variation of this arrangment, so I did the whole thing by ear. The chords, which are played here through some 'ahhh voices', are my contribution to the tune. I found that after a while, I couldn't imagine the solo playing without my chords...it was weird...I was trying to block them out in my head but the voices just kept coming back! :) The bass which plays through most of the song is actually from my old yamaha keyboard, sounds superb considering the thing is so old. The tribal beat was the first 'drum pattern' I tried for this mix, and it sounded so nice, I left it in. To keep the progression going, I added some pizzi strings, one deep track and one light track, they're hard to pick out but if you listen carefully you'll hear 'em. Added a piccolo which I think stays very true to the original tune. The timpani drums...oooh I am very proud of these babies. And finally the guitar pickin', is should be the highlight of the mix. I tried to keep the bass and the tribal beat as tight as possible so that the guitar would really shine out...which I think it did.
