NOTES:

Well, it's another Daggerfall mix! After remaking the main theme from this game I found myself quite attached to the rest of the midis that I gathered. Almost immediately after I finished the Elven Fable mix, I started arranging the 'Snow' theme, but almost just as quickly, managed to put aside the tune, and it was left...until now. I started listening to what I had made and remembered why I started mixing this tune, it had such an amazing bell tune that I just couldn't resist. This is one of two snow themes from the game, according to the files, yet I am sure I've heard this tune running in the background while I was horseback riding through Daggerfall City one 'sunny' day. So there you go.

Re-arrangment for this was somewhat tedious, especially towards the end when I just wanted it coded as soon as possible so I could start on remixing, but once complete, it more than made up for the work. First off, the original is an orchestral 3 piece string combo with some percussion and 'the bell' thing...a xylophone to be exact me thinks. I just had to use my favourite 'bell' instrument to replace the xylophone, and I think it works great. From the 3 strings, I left two as they were, but converted one to an 'organ'. The organ I really liked, and it also gave me ideas of a live/rock drum set, so I started working on the drums, and I was very pleased with what I came up with. Slow, almost reggae-type, rock drums. Other things that I added to the song was the bass, which comprises of 2 carefully selected very different bass samples, the voice chords that come up towards the end, and also the piano bits. I used two pianos in here, one piano plays through the chords, while another I made up a small lead for. Apart from that, I added some 'summer/nature' sounds at start and end, simply because I had some samples available and thought it would be nice. The hardest part of this mix was mastering it at the end, it took quite some time trying to get the volume control right, and I'm still not sure that I succeeded as I would have wanted to. I wanted it kind of loud, and the organ and drums to distort just a bit for that 'power' feel, but it might sound a bit too distorted on some systems, I apoligize if this is so. Btw, what is it with me and my latest mixes, haven't done a 4/4 time song in a while. :)
