Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Silly Level of Detail Ceramic Potions Mod v3.0

This modification increases the detail and changes the visual design of potions to have a ceramic appearance.

"I aim to bring high quality (but not high resolution) objects to Skyrim for your viewing pleasure. Why don't I make textures 2048x2048? Because it's unecessary to do that; you can achieve the same level of detail with other tricks. Thus, I keep resolution down, and therefor file size down. What's that mean for you? Eye candy at almost no performance cost.

Can you BELIEVE that the original potion/poison textures were only 256*256? That's terribly small. I've upped them to 1024, a reasonable size, and compressed them with BC3 dds compression, cutting file sizes down to 1/4."

-INTRO-

It seems like everyone is choosing a facet of Skyrim to make high resolution or high quality. I am choosing potions since they've not been done yet.

I called this mod "Silly Level of Detail" because I like to add a "silly" amount of detail to things otherwise overlooked. They're just potions; but now, they're potions with a silly amount of detail.

-DESCRIPTION-

In this mod, there are five flavors of potion/poison bottles to choose from.

1) Old Ceramic: This is a grainy, gritty, imperfect ceramic glaze.

2) Ornate: Interesting, eye-catching, "loud" ripples that make potions look much more interesting.

3) Fine: A scalloped appearance that isn't as "loud" as "Ornate" but looks more attractive than plain glass.

4) Girly: An almost sequined appearance and very out of place but I added it in case someone likes it. Extremely Paris Hilton.

5) Higher Quality Plain Glass: A spin on the default texture, increased greatly in detail.

-HOW TO-

The "Main" file area contains just the ceramic style (most popular). The other styles are beneath. Again, don't confuse potion with poison or visa versa!

You can mix and match. E.g. you could use ceramic potions and plain glass poisons.

Download your files and install them into your skyrim/data folder.

Enjoy and please leave comments; I'm always interested in feedback. This is the final release for a while. I've now spent way more time on potions than any sane man should; I think even the Bethesda art team would blush at the number of hours put into creating, testing, and refining these potions/poisons. Whew.

-Uninstallation-

Manual: Delete poisonbottle.dds, poisonbottle_n.dds, genericpotion01.dds, and genericpotion01_n.dds from Skyrim/data/textures/clutter

Automatic: Use Nexus Mod Manager :P

-Version History-

Version 1.00 (11/29/11) -- Files added to Skyrim Nexus.

Version 1.01 (11/29/11) -- All flavors updated to 1.01 to fix a small texture glitch.

Version 1.02 (11/29/11) -- Updated the default glass textures (they are now compressed like the rest). Sorry for messing that up! Redownload to get your smaller file size.

Version 2.0 (11/29/11) -- Improved textural quality in some areas, improved normalmaps in some places, and most importantly: added textures for higher quality craftable poisons.

Version 2.5 (11/30/11) -- Added the oddly missing Frostbite Venom poison vial. It doesn't use an alchemy bottle so it was overlooked originally.

Version 2.6 (12/1/11) -- Fixed some small texture glitches brought to my attention. Also improved specularity on string, paper and corks (reduced). Text on the paper is still as shiny as it was (I wanted it to look like the ink was authentically sealed with wax). Also removed the "Narm" written in Daedric on the bottoms of some poisons and replaced it with the stamp seen on some potions instead.

Version 3.0 (12/2/11) -- Countless improvements/fixes. Primarily, colors are now what they should be; blue is bluer (not green), red is red, white isn't yellow. New screenshots with more obvious labels. Final release for a while.

-Permissions-

You may use the textures any way you like. You may include them in your mod. Please, if you do use my textures, put a link to my mod in your mod description somewhere. I like fame and fortune.
