For its time, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind offered one of the biggest worlds to explore but also contained some of the biggest bugs. Though Bethesda did a pretty good job of tightening some of the loose ends before its release, gamers still complained about hundreds of small bugs found within. Bethesda was aware of these problems and lack of content, so the publisher shipped the game with “The Elder Scrolls Construction Set”, allowing gamers to shape the game how they saw fit. Bethesda eventually got around to fixing some of the bugs on their own, but fell short of their promises as they were starting to get busy developing other titles. Gamers used this tool set to address most of these bugs themselves, and thus, The Unofficial Morrowind Patch was released, or UMP as it is commonly referred to.
