The Coliseum

Let me start of by saying this is a cool design and a great idea. The halls are pretty cool, and it was fun fighting bots in them.

Author's Notes

--------------

* I'm very sorry, I couldn't get the pathnodes to work, so I scrapped them. Thus, no bots support. So sorry. This would have been funner if that wasn't a problem, but I placed so many weapons and stuff in such tight places that the pathnodes wouldn't fit, nor could I convice the bots to jump, climb the stairs, etc. I guess I just need more experience with path nodes.

This is my first creation, sort of a complete self-tutorial on UnrealEd. I wanted to build something other than the typical.. you know .. you start in a room, you walk through a hallway, you encounter another room, you come across water, there's a weapon, there's the typical sniping place, etc., etc. Yes, I know that this big map gets quite dull after a couple minutes. It was the place I wanted to create, though. I've always had an appreciation and awe of big stadiums, since I was a little kid. Although I still don't think DmColiseum is entirely life-like, it did give me that feeling of awe you get when you're standing alone in a gigantic stadium (at least, for a while it did). Realistically, though, DmColisium is only 1/3 the size of a real stadium.

There's an amount of risk involved when doing something out-of-the ordinary, building something not many other people bother to build. For some, DmColiseum might be considered different simply because it's so incredibly simple. Others, though, might like large, open areas, and might enjoy the map. I haven't had the luxury of playing the map in a full-blown deathmatch yet, and botmatches aren't supported. Sooooo.. I don't know. What do you think? Play it, let me know.

On a final note, sorry about all the colored lights along the exterior hallway. They proved more interesting, though, than white lights, and that change alone seemed to make the hallway "interesting enough" to get away with not adding necessary deco, such as lamps. (Okay, I admit it, I'm tweaking my brain to find excuses.) As a result, the map is much more colorful than the world I had in mind. If you think this map is dull, you sure wouldn't want to see what I had in my mind!

Hints

-----

Look behind the lower seats. Lots of health back there. You can get out, just walk through the brush at the entrance (it isn't solid).
