There are two ways you can install this mod. The standard way, and the alternate way.

STANDARD INSTALLATION:

1. Extract the mod somewhere on your computer, then copy the "AIEV" folder into your "&:\Battlefield Vietnam\Mods" directory.
2. Run the game and activate the mod from the CUSTOM GAME menu in BFV. Then choose the map and play!

You will be able to play all of the stock maps, and the bots will use the AI strategies that I editted for them. Custom maps however are not supported.
ALTERNATE ISNTALLATION:

**Pay close attention here**

1. Go into your %:\Battlefield Vietnam\Mods\BfVietnam directory and BACKUP your lexiconALL.dat file. (copy it into some other folder somewhere)

2. Go into your %:\Battlefield Vietnam\Mods\BfVietnam\Archives directory and BACKUP your objects.rfa file. (copy it into some other folder somewhere)

3. Go into your %:\Battlefield Vietnam\Mods\BfVietnam\Archives\BfVietnam directory and also BACKUP your game.rfa file. (copy it into some other folder somewhere)

4. Go into my AIE folder and copy the lexiconALL.dat file into your:
%:\Battlefield Vietnam\Mods\BfVietnam directory

5. Go into my AIE folder and copy the objects.rfa file into your:
%:\Battlefield Vietnam\Mods\BfVietnam\Archives directory.

6. Go into my AIE folder and copy the game.rfa file into your:
%:\Battlefield Vietnam\Mods\BfVietnam\Archives\BfVietnam directory.

You will be able to play both custom and stock maps this way, but you won't be able to play any other mods, should you have them installed. But you can simply rearrange the files if you want to play other mods.

Now you are all set and ready to go. Please refer to the 'New AI Features' at the bottom of this document for details
on what you can expect in this AI enhancement mod.
Also, to make sure you know the mod is working, you should firstly notice a change in the kit layouts. If they have been changed, then expect all of the AI and other changes to soon be revealed.

Battlefield Vietnam of course. I dont think its a tool though...
Various other pieces of equipment.

This mod has taken almost a year to complete, but there is some more things that I wish to correct, but am unable to at this time, so look out for any patches or updates.

Issues:
- Renamed weapons and kit descriptions will only appear in English versions of Battlefield Vietnam.
- A particular line of code in some handweapon files is suspected to cause crash to desktops when bots use them out of the player's sight.
I have removed these lines and haven't encountered a CTD yet. However,not enough results have been gained from its removal, so I'm not
entirely sure if it had any real effect.
- There is a bug with the plantation knife that seems to have been existing since the game's release, and subsequently
overlooked by those dumbasses at EA/DICE. Bots are able to kill enemy infantry that are
over 50 metres away with the plantation knife. So far I've seen bots do this, but haven't been able to do it myself.
Remember, this is a 'vanilla bug', was not caused by this mod.
- Sometimes bots will whip out their knife and start slashing the air when enemys are several hundred metres away. I'm still searching for the reason
of this behaviour, so to rectify this problem, just nudge the bot and he'll realise what an ass he is and get back to killing.
- Kits from dead soldiers are incorrect to what class that soldier actually was. (Eg: An engineer is killed, leaving an M14 hanging from his cross when in fact he had a Mossberg)
- In this mod, you will die. A lot. Bots are merciless. If you find yourself being killed too much, then
tone down the AI skills to HARD or NORMAL. IMPOSSIBLE makes bots target players over other bots, hard decrease this slightly and normal makes targetting even.

LEGAL:
Please refrain from editing my files and going and throwing them into a mod of your own, then pass them off as your own
creation. I put my bloody heart and soul into this so I deserve some respect at least!!

Now, onto the good stuff.

Battlefield Vietnam new features:

BOTS:


VEHICLE AI:

- Bots in the Cobra co-pilot position fire HEAT missiles more frequently, and fire them at infantry and vehicles.
- Bots in the Assault Huey fire the miniguns much, much better now and also fire them at aircraft.
- Bots in the Huey slicks will now fire at enemy targets.
- Bots shoot tank main guns further and more accurately.
- Bots fire the coaxial machinegun when in tanks.
- Bots in planes will attack ground targets more often, including air control towers.
- Bots are also more accurate when engaging ground targets when flying in jets.
- Bots fly helos a bit better.
- Bots now fire the M46 more frequently and accurately.
- Bots in the Mi8 helicopter now fire both missile tubes.
- Bots in the ZSU gunner position now fire faster and as a result, are more deadlier against helicopters.
- Bots now fire from the BTR passenger positions.
- Bots will sometimes fire the tank main gun at infantry.
- Bots in the Cobra co-pilot position now fire the machinegun at infantry, aircraft and light vehicles.
- Bots in the KA25 co-pilot position will fire missile more frequently at varied targets.
- Bots flying the F4 Phantom or Skyraider will no longer drop napalm bombs on vehicles.
- Bots in tanks will shoot at aircraft with the coaxial machinegun, but only if the enemy vehicle gets too close.
- Bots now use the stationary M60 properly.
- Bots in the BM21 missile launcher now fire more frequently, accurately, and will also fire at enemy aircraft.
- Bots flying the AC47 now drop bombs properly.
- Bots manning the AC47 miniguns will fire properly at infantry, air and light armour targets.
- Bots manning UH1 M60s will use them properly.
- Bots are now able to use the OH-1 Loach, both as pilot and gunner.
- Bots flying the F4 Phantom will now fire its missiles at enemy tanks.
- Bots flying the MiG-21 will now fire its missile at ground targets with every oppurtunuty it gets.
- Bots will now fire weapons from amphibious vehicles when driving in water.

INFANTRY AI:

- Bots use knives, machetes and plantation knives for up close action.
- Bots use the M79 against infantry and vehicles.
- Bots use the Timebomb against vehicles and infantry.
- Bots use landmines against vehicles.
- Bots use caltrops against infantry.
- Bots use Bouncing Bettys against infantry.
- Bots use pistols against infantry.
- Bots will fire LAWs and RPGs at infantry, but only when they feel there is a need to.
- Bots will fire certain hand weapons and rocket launchers at enemy aircraft, regardless of where it is.
- Bots choose what item to use against targets more sensibly.
- Bots will sometimes throw grenades at enemy infantry.
- Bots will now fire the RPG7v.
- Allied bots will no longer target and destroy NVA tunnel spawns.
- Bot staring and idleness behaviour has been toned down, and will no longer hesitate to kill enemys. However, this varies from map to map.
- Bot infantry charging has been tweaked slightly. Bots won't charge while they are armed with a machinegun because of the recoil.
- Bots will use C4 explosives against vehicles and infantry.
- Bots use TNT against vehicles and infantry.
- Bots now use wrenches to repair tanks and light vehicles.
- Bots now use medkits to heal friendly soldiers and themselves.

GLOBAL AI:

- Bots accuracy has been increased for hand weapons and vehicle weapons, so now bots will shoot at targets more realisticly.
- Bots will now fire at anyone who is in an exposed position on most vehicles. (Huey transport, M110, BTR, Ontos, Mi8 cargo, Nancy driver, ZSU gunner position, tank gunner positions)
- Bots overall are now much more aggressive in all forms of combat.
- Several AI behaviours have been tweaked to make for more efficient bot play.
- Plus a lot of other AI tweaks.
- Special: Bots now drive UAZs, MUTTs, BTRs, M113s and PT76s in custom maps that have had bots added in
with Botinator.


OTHER CHANGES:

- Crosshairs turned off for infantry and vehicles.
- 3rd person soldier view activated.
- Land vehicle wreckage lasts for a long time, helicopter wrecks last half as long as land vehicle wrecks, while jet wrecks fade away at normal rates. Certain vehicle debris will also remain.
- Increased damage of bombs vs air control towers.
- The SVD muzzle flash misplacement has been fixed.
- Soldiers will drown if they are in water for around 40 seconds.
- Infantry bodies will remain much longer.
- Players and bots now have to be a bit closer to vehicles to repair them. Players will have to be closer to mines to disarm them.

VEHICLES:

- ZSU flak now has a small splash damage against infantry.
- Increased both Mi8 helicopter's health from 125 to 230.
- Increased Nancy health from 60 to 90.
- Increased Patton health from 100 to 160.
- Increased PT76 health from 100 to 110.
- Increased T54 health from 100 to 130.
- Increased T72 health from 100 to 180.
- Reduced the health of air control towers from 1200 to 500.
- Increased MiG17 health from 60 to 100.
- Increased MiG21 health from 60 to 115.
- Increased F4 Phantom health from 60 to 100.
- Increased Corsair health from 60 to 100.
- Increased both Skyraider's health from 60 to 100.
- Increased Huey transport and assault health from 100 to 130.
- Cobra health increased from 90 to 100.
- Increased the AC-47s health to 500.
- Increased BM21 cargo health to 70.
- Icreased BM21 Missile launcher health to 100.
- Changed the M46 projectile type.
- MiG17 and Corsair bombs have a larger and more powerful blast radius.
- The F4 Phantom missile lives a bit longer.
- MUTTs and UAZs radios will keep playing even after the occupants have left the vehicle.
- Non-amphibious tanks are now a bit more tolerant of water, and will take longer
to die if it gets stuck in water.
- Changed the projectile position of the Cobra heatseeker missile to prevent the missile from destroying the Cobra.
- Did a major clean up on all BFV vehicle codes to make them more effecient for bot use.

WEAPONS:

- Caltrop ammo count is now 2.
- Type 53 now has 49 rounds per magazine.
- M1911 now has 8 rounds per clip.
- M14 and the M21 now have 20 rounds per clip, but reduced magazine count to 3. (M21 still has 2 magazines)
- Reduced Timebomb ammo count to 2.
- Reduced C4 ammo count to 3.
- Reduced TNT ammo count to 2.
- Reduced M79 ammo count to 4.
- All anti-tank mines have an ammo count of 4.
- Changed Bouncing Betty ammo count to 3.
- All infantry weapons now have tracers, except pistols, sniper rifles and the Mossberg 500.
- The Timebomb will now automatically explode after nine seconds have expired by default.
- C4 will now detonate automatically after 3 seconds have expired.
- TNT will automaticaly explode after 3 seconds have expired.
- Caltrops now do more damage to infantry.
- The LAW, RPG7v and RPG2 now have the velocity of 55.
- Changed some infantry weapon projectile types.
- Increased some weapon velocities, such as mines, caltrops, Timebombs and Bouncing Bettys. They will be thrown instead of placed down.
- The M40 and M91/30 now unscope when firing while using the scope like in Battlefield 1942.
- Tweaked recoil for each infantry weapon.
- Made all infantry weapons more powerful against other soldiers.
- Increased the living time for mines, caltrops and Bouncing Bettys.

KITS:

ARVN
- Engineer alt now has the Mossberg 500 instead of M14.
- Primary sniper kit only has smoke grenades.
- Primary Engineer kit has a C4 charge while the other has a Landmine.
- Binoculars and wrenches are no longer available.
- Removed mortars from engineer kits.

NVA & VIET CONG
- Primary sniper kit now has caltrops as the melee weapon instead of a knife.
- All engineers now have anti tank mines instead of punji sticks and wirecutters.
- Primary sniper kit now has caltrops as the melee weapon instead of a knife.
- Sniper alt no longer has the Timebomb.
- Primary sniper kit now has grenades.
- Binoculars are no longer available.
- Removed shovel and mortars from engineer kits.
- Both RPG troopers have Timebombs.
- Both primary assault kits gain a medkit.

NVA
- NVA Engineer alt now has DP instead of Mat49.
- NVA SA7 trooper now has an AKMS for a primary weapon.
- NVA primary anti tank kit no longer has grenades.
- NVA sniper alt now has an M91-30 instead of the Type-56.
- NVA Primary Engineer kit has TNT while the other has a Landmine.
- Secondary assault kit has a plantation knife for a melee weapon.
- Primary engineer kit has a plantation knife for a melee weapon.
- SA7 trooper has a plantation knife for a melee weapon.

VIET CONG
- VC SA7 trooper now has a Mat49 for a primary weapon.
- Primary sniper kit now has caltrops as the melee weapon instead of a knife.
- VC Secondary Engineer kit has TNT while the other has a Landmine.
- VC primary engineer now has the RPD instead of the Mat49.
- VC sniper alt now has the SVD instead of the Type-56.
- VC engineer alt now has the Type 56 instead of the Mat49.
- Primary assault kit has a machete as a malee weapon.
- Secondary engineer kit has a machete as a melee weapon.
- RPG trooper has a machete as a melee weapon.

SPECIAL FORCES
- Engineer alt now has an M16 instead of an M14.
- Only the primary assault kit has the medkit.
- Assault alt now has the Mossberg 500 instead of CAR15 w/ underslung grenade launcher.
- Primary sniper kit only has smoke grenades.
- Primary Engineer kit has a C4 charge while the other has a Landmine.
- Binoculars are no longer available.
- Removed mortars from engineer kits.
- Secondary sniper kit gets the M21 instead of the Scoped M16.

US ARMY
- Engineer alt now has CAR15 instead of M14.
