Description : This FULL version is a conversion from the Quake 2

map pack: SKYSCRAPER, plus one new additional map

which provide as a "bridge" between two maps.

Mission Brief : September 11th has called for a temporary

rehire of "soldier of fortune"....

You're John Mullins, a retired veteran, who

has been hired again to eliminate the next terrorists'

plans for attack. Resources said that their plans

are to attack a skyscraper (again). This time around,

they have decided to use the skyscraper as a "testing

gound" for their new biological weapon. Resources

also have been informed that they have a training

session being held there at the skyscraper. Their

goal, as well, is to eliminate any "soldier of

fortune" whose attempt is to stop them. They had

already murdered your partner, Madeline Taylor, for a

"price tag".... The sources verified that their

primary target now IS John Mullins. Since it's your

life they want, so why not "hire" the best to get the

"job" done right?

Besides eliminating the terrorists, two

objectives must be met. One is to stop the leader

named "Wilson" who is responsible for promoting the

weapon. "Wilson" is one of the triplets who are

brothers and can be identified by their dyed blonde

hair... The other objective is to get the suitcase

that holds the evidence of this weapon... Once these

objectives have been achieved, a helicopter would

eventually pick you up safely at the helipad.....

To get to the skyscraper, you must start at the

beginning where the suppliers start which is the house

in the countryside......

To achieve successful for this game, the player

must search everywhere for the keys which unlock some

slight "puzzles"... Be aware that there are two types

of keys. Red keys usually open regular doors and

elevator doors. Brown keys however open chest and

even air vents.....

I have enjoyed creating my map pack for Quake 2 so I have decided to

make a conversion for Soldier of Fortune 2. Unlike the Quake 2 Engine, I was

able to complete additional "set pieces" and add more sections which wasn't

possible under the previous Engine.

* Construction *

Base : Combining and altering (rescaling) the MAPs from the

actual Quake 2 SKYSCRAPER pack! SoF2Sky2.MAP was

created from scratch.

Build Time : Includes learning Radiant for the first time...

Sixteen months on-and-off.

Editor(s) used : Using Quake 2 to add the framework of the garage,

retail version of qED (qED 2) "Unoffical QUAKE Level

Design Handbook" written by Matt Tagliaferri, SYBEX,

Inc. (c) 1997.

After rescaling the maps to 1.463 for Soldier of

Fortune 2, qED 2 was also used to extract these into

.MAP formats which were permitted to be opened by

the Q3Radiant (GtkRadiant) !!!

Known Bugs : The player would intend to get "stuck" if he or she

(YOU!) jumps on the sink in the bathroom--Crouch or

Prone would still not solve it...

Compiling time : For graphic reasons, these maps were processed using

-fast for VIS.

512 MB of Ram

All-In-Wonder 9600 128 MB (Radeon 9600 AGP)

Set pieces : Using q3map2, "set pieces" were extracted from .MAP

formats of Soldier of Fortune 2 original .BSPs to be

incorporated (and sometime resized) for SoF2Sky1.

"Set pieces" are referred as chairs, tables, lamps,

models, etc.

Credits : The makers of Quake 2 and Soldier of Fortune 2, of

course!

* How to play this level *

Unzip SoF2Skyscrap.PK3 under Soldier of Fortune 2 "base" directory.

(example: C:\SoF2\base)

Start Soldier of Fortune 2...

When the menu finally comes up, access the console by pressing the left Shift

key plus the "~" key...

Type "map SoF2Sky1" (without the quotes) and press "Enter"....

And you in!!

I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it!!!
