Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (CoD 4) may have come out last year, but seeing as it is a record breaking award winning title that is still one of the most popular online FPS games to date that should be enough to earn it a spot on this year's list for anybody that may have still not played it yet. Mind you, we would have listed Call of Duty: World at War, but there is no demo available for it yet.

CoD 4 was a radical departure from the past games in the series that has always been set in World War 2. The developers decided to take a chance and finally take a step into modern times with a story revolving around conflicts, issues, and fears that we can all relate to. The decision paid off beautifully because the game ended up being a wild runaway success.

In my own experiences I can say that it is one of the most cohesive and gripping games ever created and every FPS gamer worth their salt owes it to themselves to try it out. The graphics are fantastic, the gameplay is frantic to a nearly shellshock inducing degree, and the story is as good as the one in any political thriller Hollywood blockbuster you'll see in a theater today. Even the multiplayer is second to none with features that raise the bar for online shooters. If you haven't played this game yet, get out from under your rock, try the demo , and then pick up the game so you can play the rest. A more well rounded game package is hard to find.
