1.Installation
MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THE CORRECT BOX IN THE INSTALLATION PROGRAM. The is on option for practically every setup, up to and including one for those dopes that dont even know how much RAM or what kind of modem their $2K computer has. It is okay to pick one for a lower grade machine, it will not hurt but you wont receive the benefits of the maximum settings for your system. If you have More than 256MB ram the 256MB+ applies to you (thats why there's a plus at the end!). If you have a Tx (T1, T3) use DSL or you should be smart enough to change the modem settings yourself. (btw maxplayers for T3 should be 12, T1 14)

2.Initialization
After you have completed the installation program dont go off and play yet, we aint done. The installer placed a umod (Unreal Module) in your Unreal directory (C:\Unreal). You need to be using Unreal version 224 and higher to run umods. Double click the umod and follow the instructions there. After installation completes (a whole 0.24 seconds on a p2) sit there for a while and imagine playing Unreal using a whole 73% of your RAM (instead of 4MB) and hosting servers that clients will enjoy playing on.

Now go, what are you sitting around for?!

3.RAM Settings
For those of you that need to know the settings are as follows;
64MB RAM now uses 43MB
128MB RAM now uses 85MB
256MB+ RAM now uses 140MB

These could have been set higher but some of us need some RAM left over to run other things ie: Windows.
If you find your machine lagging (offline) or taking a very long time to start or quit Unreal you may be running too many programs in the background. Right click all the icons next to the clock (the bottom right of your screen, dont click the clock >:o ) and close all the ones you can. If that doesnt fix it then its something else (not related to this mod).

4.Modem settings
Again, for those of you dying to know.
56k; 4players, 3600 max client rate
ISDN; 6 players, 3600 max client rate
Cable; 8 players, 5000 max client rate
DSL; 10 players, 5000 max client rate

all use max ticks per sec 15, max spectators 1.

5.Misc Settings
For those still interested.
CoopWeaponModes are changed so IN COOP MODE ONLY the weapons will respawn in 1 sec after they have been picked up. I find it very ignorant to set up a server and NOT have this setting on since you start out with NO weapons. The only person who gets weapons is the first person that gets to them. That sucks.
Anyways, your server will not suck because your weapons respawn so everyone gets em. Plus they can be picked up more than once by the same player so they can fill thier ammo up on that weapon.
Bots are also enabled in Multiplayer games.

6.Uninstalling
To uninstall simply use the Unwise program in the Unreal directory.
You can do this as soon as you execute the umod file. Once the umod has been executed you CAN NOT revert back to the old unreal. The only way to do this is to reinstall Unreal. The umod does not install anything. It changes settings inside Unreal.ini which cannot be uninstalled.
Remeber, to save space uninstall the umod file after you execute it using the UnWise.exe file.

7.Bad Things.
Things that will fux your umod installation.
Messing with the following functions inside the game;
Max Players (in any game type) and Modem Speed (that should be obvious NOT to mess with).
If you change these they also effect Unreal if you host servers. If you dont plan on hosting a server than do whatever you want with these.
You CAN change the Bots in multiplayer to OFF (on by default), you can always change it back.
If you do break something just simply reinstall the umod.

8.Troubleshooting
This will not create any problems when playing Unreal.
Period.
If you find a bug, it was there already, you just never noticed it.
There is NO CODE in this file. It doesn't alter the way Unreal executes in any way other than enabling it to take full advantage of your system.
If you do have problems directly related to this program then the only possible answer is you installed a component designed for a higher end system. Simply reinstall and make sure you pick the right settings for your system or try using lower settings.
