V. KNOWN ISSUES:
=====================
If you are unsure about the specification of your computer, try running
"DXDIAG" to display useful information about your computer. To do this, follow
these steps:
In Windows go to START > RUN
Type "dxdiag" (without quotes) and press ENTER/RETURN
1) If you notice that your game is running slowly, try changing the settings in
the configuration program. To run the configuration program go to Start Menu >
Programs > Perimeter > Configure Options. Under the graphics option try
choosing one of the presets, 'Fast' should provide the best performance.
2) Should you experience graphical problems and are using a supported graphics
card (see list above), ensure you have installed the latest drivers for the
card, which you can download from the manufacturer's website.
ATi - http://www.ati.com
nVidia - http://www.nvidia.com
3) There is a known issue with the latest nVidia drivers (version 56.72) which
can cause graphical corruption when the graphical settings are repeatedly
changed between the different presets. This can be corrected by ALT+TABing out
of and back into the game.
4) Radeon 8500LE - turning on 'Occlusion' and 'Reflections' graphics options
will cause the first run of a level to be very slow.
SOLUTION: Restart the level and the game will run normally after this point.
5) 1280x960 resolution on 64MB GeForce and Radeon cards causes all in game menu
options to appear white.
SOLUTION: Use a different resolution. Alternatively 'ALT+TAB'ing out of and
back into the game sometimes fixes this.
6) Radeon 7200 causes energy layer graphical error. This is purely graphical
and does not affect the gameplay.
7) Radeon 8500, 8500LE, 9000, 9100 & 9200 - With Bump mapping enabled the in
game menu will appear brighter than normal, also the Frame will appear brighter
on some sides. This is purely graphical and does not affect the gameplay.
8) On Windows2000 and WindowsXP you must be logged on with Administrator
privileges to be able to play the game.
9) If the host of a peer-to-peer game quits the game, occasionally the clients
will lose connection instead of one of the clients taking over as host. If the
host is defeated in the game then one of the clients will automatically become
the host.
10) Clients may have problems attempting to join games hosted from behind a
router.
SOLUTION:
For peer-to-peer open ports:
. 1900 Universal Plug and Play - Simple Service Discovery
Protocol
. 2302-2400 DirectPlay device address default
. 2234 Internet sharing and firewall support for Windows
Millennium Edition (Windows Me) and Windows XP
. 6073 DirectPlay enumerations using DPNSVR
. 47624 Deprecated DirectPlay enumeration
For GameSpy Arcade allow traffic for at least the following ports, along with
any more you may use in your game. Unless specified otherwise, they're TCP:
. 6667 (IRC)
. 80 (HTTP)
. 27900 (Master Server UDP Heartbeat)
. 28900 (Master Server List Request)
. 29900 (GP Connection Manager)
. 29901 (GP Search Manager)
. 13139 (Custom UDP Pings)
. 6500 (incoming, UDP, default roomquery port; can be customised with
roomqueryport=
in svc.cfg)
If you still have problems then we recommend connecting your machine directly
to the internet and not through your router.
