This Unreal Tournament 3 modding contest started in Summer of 2008 to showcase the best mods and maps for Unreal Tournament 3 from around the globe. The contest ended with Epic Games announcing the Grand Prize winner for the contest with Best Overall mod going to....

The team behind The Haunted earns a cool $50,000 cash prize courtesy of sponsor Intel, a commercial license for Unreal Engine 3 from Epic Games, and hardware prizes from Lenovo. This gory and violent survival horror game is a exciting third person mod with intense gamplay. What makes this game stand out is the visual style with blood splurting everywhere, vicious decapitations, and flying body parts. This game isn't for people with weak intestinal fortitude. The bad guys in the mod are the coolest looking evil monster army ever created and will keep your toes.

The contest also announced other finalist winners with an unique mix of mods. The Ball is another awesome mod that earned second place awards with their unique puzzle oriented gameplay set in a fantastic Meso American underworld. Outerspace spaceship fights and multiplayer shooting was covered perfectly by the Planetstorm mod that got third place. Prometheus got forth place accolades for their unique time splitting and self replication. Hazard: The Journey of Life was a complete shocker to me with this philosphical inspired game that claims to make gamers reconsider the meaning of life getting fifth place.
