Curse is a total conversion mod for Half-Life 2 that recently premiered on FilePlanet. This single player mod is set inside Necropolis, the Egyptian city of the dead. If you tun through the game, reaching the end of each level faster than Michael Phelps at the Olympics, it gives you a big thumbs down.

The goal in Necropolis is banish all evil from each level. It sounds simple but can be a challenge requiring to find all the secrets in each level and defeating all the evil monsters. This is tricky with locked rooms and hidden passages revealed by hidden switches or triggering certain events. Keep a careful eye for blood stains, bugs and flies, or finding ways to open hidden areas that are normally blocked.

A important part in Necropolis is finding special "scarabeus tokens" hidden on each level. These tokens are hard to find because they are located on ceilings, locked behind magic doors, or set in weird areas. Getting all the tokens unlocks the green chamber grate that leads to "Nightmare Mode" for each level.

The big thumbs down hand near each sarcophagus will vanish and cue a red sky and smoke trail leading to the red chamber door. Here you will lead to encounter a final boss or the special token that banishes the evil from each level. This boss here who looks like friendly Domo is actually an angry Wormdemon.

So what happens when you banish all evil from the three levels of Necropolis? Find out yourself because this FileBlog is about unlocking secrets and not revealing them. If you haven't had the chance to play Curse Episode One then download it now.

Curse Episode One Preview article by John Phillips at Planet Half-Life reviews the mod and explains some of the basic gameplay elements for Curse.
