Description
This mod is an alternative to the mostly non-working "notarget" command and disables the attacks of MOST monsters in Doom 3 without interfering with scripted events.
-------------------
Purpose
This mod is my quick-and-dirty solution to the lack of a really effective "notarget" command in Doom 3. Annoyingly, the "notarget" command only seems to work about 20-30% of the time. Unfortunately, the "killmonsters" command removes *all* creatures, both enemies and allies, which can really screw up the scripting since certain events (unlocking of doors, fleeting glimpses of running NPCs, etc.) rely on the presence of other creatures (monsters, sentry bots, NPCs, etc.).
This mod solves that problem by disabling the monsters' attacks (with three important exceptions, see below) without interfering with any other game behavior. As far as I'm aware, all scripted events should occur as intended. The player is free to explore the level, fire away, or do pretty much anything else he likes without those distracting "rip-rip" sounds, wildly jerking viewpoint, and blood splatter from a monster attack, or worry about pesky monsters sneaking up behind him from areas already cleared.
------------------
Effect
The monsters will detect and chase the player down as normal... and that's all. The monsters will NOT attack (melee or otherwise, or dodge in any way.

IMPORTANT EXCEPTIONS to this no-attack mod
(see noattack.txt)
-----------------
Installing the mod
== Method 1 == installing for the mod menu
The noattack file should be unzipped into your Doom 3 folder, so that the folders
look like this:
|
|--- Doom 3 ----
| |--- noattack -----
| | |--- pak000.pk4
| | |
| | |--- noattack.txt
Then start Doom 3 as you normally would and click on Mods in the main menu screen. Select
the noattack mod, load it, and start playing.
== Method 2 == installation of scripts for individual monsters
(see noattack.txt)
NOTE - Using modified game scripts will cause all game saves to restart at the beginning of that particular level.
