The original On The Prowl was somewhat oriental and very bassy, which I liked. I always visualized a huge group of NOD Stealth Tanks slowly surrounding a GDI base awaiting the signal to attack all at once. It's a great track, very simple bassline and a catchy and powerful lead. Can't get enough of Klepacki's work.

At first I started mixing this song in to a hiphop breakbeat, when I doubled the speed of the drums to realize that a drum'n'bass background gave the tune a faster paced stealthy feeling, which is what I decided to go with. The problem with this mix for me, was that I couldn't get the bass line as smooth and 'to the drums' as I wanted it, it took me a while and I ended up combining two different bass samples at parts of the mix. Overall I wanted this mix to be a little ambient, so to match the battle preparation that I described I had in mind before.
