INSTALLATION:
-If AutoPlay is enabled on your computer, simply click the "Install
Warbirds" button on the startup screen after inserting the CD in
your CD-ROM drive. Follow the instructions carefully from there.
If you do NOT have AutoPlay enabled on your computer, proceed to
the next step below.

-Double-click Setup.exe on the Warbirds CD and follow the
instructions. Then double-click either the warbirds.exe icon for non-3D
accelerated play or the Wbd3d.exe (if you have a 3D card) in the Warbirds
folder to start the game, or select iEntertainment Network / Warbirds from the
Start Menu.

ONLINE MANUALS:

-The online manual is on the Warbirds CD. It includes the
complete version of the manual.

WINDOWS DESKTOP CORRUPTION:

-In some rare instances, when exiting Warbirds your desktop may
not be restored entirely. This has to do with the way
video memory is being handled by the game, by DirectX, and by your
video card. You can restore your desktop settings by simply
shutting down and restarting your computer.

16 BIT Color mode: If you are having video problems, please ensure
that you have your video settings set to 16 bit color mode. Check
this by going into Windows Control Panel and clicking on the "display"
icon.

OTHER PROGRAMS RUNNING IN THE BACKGROUND:
-Warbirds works best in a simple Windows 95 environment. If you
discover any performance or interface problems while trying to
run the game, try the following:

Turn off animated cursors, any other large programs
currently running, any special anti-virus or system maintenance
utilities, any crash protection software, any ICQ or E-Mail
programs or web browsers running in the background prior to
starting the game. If using Microsoft Plus! software, choose
the Windows Standard Desktop Theme prior to starting the game
(you can switch back to your preferred theme after exiting the
game). If using Microsoft Intellipoint software, turn off the
Pointer Wrap feature for your mouse prior to starting the game.

MICROSOFT OFFICE SHORTCUT BAR:

-On certain systems, when exiting the game the icons on the MS
Office Shortcut Bar will have black or invisible icons. This is
a video memory problem. To correct the problem, right-click on
any empty part of the Shortcut Bar and then select Refresh, and
the icons will re-appear. Better yet, as with many games, right-
click on the top of the Shortcut Bar and turn off the Bar for
your current Windows session prior to starting the game. Your
Shortcut Bar will return upon your next shutdown and restart.

Scoring Ships Kills in Offline Mode: If you destroy capital ships
(Cruisers or larger) you will receive one kill credit for each ship
you destroy and bonus points in the "building" category.

(*) In some cases when you first install Warbirds and run the 2d version,
the message window starts off completely black and the messages don't show
up on it (except maybe a pixel here and there.) The user can fix this by
selecting SETUP from the main menu (the very first SETUP before you click
on PRACTICE OFFLINE or GO ONLINE), then selecting VIDEO, and setting the
message window size to -small-.
