Description: T.H.U.M.B. v1.0

The Ter'angreal Hand Utility Modifier and Builder gives you a clean, intuitive way to completely remap your keys and ter'angreal placement. If you don't like Fireball and Seeker being on separate keys, then put them on the same one. If you'd rather have freeze on its own key to access it faster, well, now you can do it.

I. WHAT IS T.H.U.M.B.?
Well, the name says it all, sort of.
In addition, you can bind several keys to the same command, or several commands to the same key. If you want a general all-purpose "help me, I've got thirty-seven Seekers flying at me!" key, then you can bind Aura of Unraveling, Unravel, Sever, Absorb, Reflect, and Shift to the same key. The possibilities are endless.

II. HOW DO I INSTALL T.H.U.M.B.?
There are four files in this archive:
» Setup.exe : The program which will install T.H.U.M.B. on your computer.

» Setup.lst : The file containing all the parameters that will be installed with T.H.U.M.B.

» Thumb.cab : The archive containing the actual T.H.U.M.B. program.

» ReadMe.htm : The document you're reading.

The first time you run T.H.U.M.B., it will prompt you for your Wheel of Time folder. Be sure you choose the correct folder; the program will not function correctly without it.

III. HOW DO I USE T.H.U.M.B.?
Okay, enough of the preparations. Here are some more instructions on how to use the program.
THE MENU BAR
All the commands in the menu are self-explanatory. You can use "Default Keys" or "Default Hands" to reset all your settings to the default. You can use the "Save" and "Load" commands to save and load individual configurations, without writing them to your User.ini. You should use the "Export to User.ini" when you have a configuration that you want to use.

You shouldn't ever need to use "Set WoT Path", unless you reinstall the game in a different directory.

The "Hands" and "Keys" tabs will switch back and forth from the Hands Configuration and Key Remapping utilities.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HANDS CONFIGURATION

The Hands configuration section of the program is divided into three parts:

INDIVIDUAL HAND DISPLAY
This section displays all the ter'angreal you have bound to a particular hand. The order, from left to right, is the order in which the ter'angreal will cycle when you press that hand's key repeatedly in the game. You can remove icons from this view by left-clicking on an icon; it will disappear from the hand display.

TER'ANGREAL DESCRIPTION
There's not much to this section; the description of the ter'angreal appears here. It is the same description that shows up in the game when you press the F2 key.

TER'ANGREAL MASTER LIST
The forty-two (42) icons in this window are all the ter'angreal you'll find in the game, in addition to two special ones; the "Special" ter'angreal (which is "used" only in the single-player game) and "Fireworks", which exists solely for converting the T.H.U.M.B. configuration file into the User.ini file. If you try to use it in-game, it will not function.

This is also the window where all the interaction takes place. To assign a ter'angreal to a hand, simply drag the icon from the master list to the individual hand display. For instance, if you want to put Water Shield in the first hand, in between Balefire and Fireball, drag it onto the fireball icon. This is true for all icons; if you want to put an icon in between two others, drag it onto the icon to the left of where you want it to go.

You can also put a ter'angreal in multiple hands, if you like. If you want Reflect to be on all ten hands, then you can do that.

It should be noted that you cannot have more than one of the same ter'angreal in the same hand and you cannot yourself place both the Seal and the Special artifact in the same hand.

Make sure, however, that you assign all the ter'angreal to hands. If you do not, you won't be able to use them in the game.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

KEY CONFIGURATION

The Key configuration section of the program is also divided into three parts:

KEYBOARD LAYOUT
This window shows every single key on the keyboard, along with a few that might not be on your keyboard (OEMClear, CrSel, etc.). There are five binding slots available for each key, which are available if you want to bind that key to use ter'angreal. Clicking on a key is the first step of configuring the key...

KEY CONFIGURATION
...and this is the second step. In this section, the key name is displayed in bold type, along with its current setting. To the right is the Bind Type drop-down menu, which contains four options: None, Action, SelectHand, and UseSpecifiedAngreal.

NONE
No action. This key will not do anything in-game.

ACTION
This will create another drop-down menu to the right, with virtually every possible action in the game listed (far too many to list here). This ranges from bringing up the main menu (ShowMenu) to debugging tools (Teleport) to straight shooting (Fire). You can also enter your own commands in this box, things such as "god" or "FOV 10" or any other command that doesn't appear in this drop down by default.

SELECTHAND
This will also create another drop-down menu to the right, with SelectHand 0 through SelectHand 9 listed. These correspond to Hands 1 through 10 in the Hand Configuration section of the program.

USESPECIFIEDANGREAL
This will create a square, blank icon to the right of the drop-down menu. Dragging a ter'angreal's icon to this blank icon will bind that key to using that ter'angreal. You can bind up to five different ter'angreal to the same key--perfect for that "help me, I've got thirty-seven Seekers flying at me!" key I mentioned earlier. When you have more than one ter'angreal bound to a key, the game will use them in order from left to right and stop when an effect is actually fired. If you have Reflect, Shift and Unravel bound to the same key and the only ter'angreal you actually have in your inventory are Shift and Unravel, then the game will fire off the Shift effect and stop there (Reflect is skipped entirefly because you do not have it in your inventory).

IV. WHO SHOULD I CONTACT IF I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT THE PROGRAM?
Sam Brown wrote it, so you should probably contact him. His e-mail address is sbrown@legendent.com.
However, if something's not clear in this readme file, you can also contact me, Grant Roberts, the two-time! two-time! two-time! readme writer, at groberts@legendent.com.
