The Alice Project Demo

This mod assumes several things. It is not designed for beginners.

1. It is assumed you have played a First-Person style game before.
2. It is assumed you have a familiarity with the mechanics of Portal.
3. It is assumed you have finished Portal successfully at least once.

In addition, I recommend you understand Half-Life 2 as it gives a back story to the game.

If you have never played user-created content in Portal, follow the directions below.

1. Unzip the folder to a location where you can find it again. Put it on your desktop for simplicity.
2. Locate your Portal directory, ie. C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\[username]\portal\portal\
3. Place the entire unzipped folder (AliceProject) in your maps directory, ie. C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\[username]\portal\portal\maps\. you may have second maps folder in C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\[username]\portal\. Do not use this maps folder as the game will not find the files there.
4. Start Portal.
5. At the main menu, click Bonus Maps.
5. In the bonus maps menu, open the AliceProject folder by double-clicking it.
6. Click one of the level icons.
7. Click Load.

*Note: The first level of this mod does not exit correctly. When you get to the top of the exit elevator, you will have to manually access the load map menu form the bonus maps window and select the next level. Each level must be load manually as this is only the demo. The full mod will play normally.
