Description: Windows Live Messenger - LP Transfer V.1.00

LP-Transfer is a program for sending files across the internet. Although there are features built into most instant messengers and various other pieces of software to do this, they are often quite slow and unreliable, due to indirect connections between the sender and the receiver or other tasks being handled by the same application. LP-Transfer allows you to connect directly with the person you are sending files to or receiving them from and, as it is purely for file transfers and nothing else, it allows the transfers to run more smoothly and quickly, without as much risk of you losing the connection part-way through the transfer.

Introduction
------------
LP-Transfer is a program for sending files across the internet. Although there are
features built into most instant messengers and various other pieces of software to do
this, they are often quite slow and unreliable, due to indirect connections between the
sender and the receiver or other tasks being handled by the same application.
LP-Transfer allows you to connect directly with the person you are sending files to or
receiving them from and, as it is purely for file transfers and nothing else, it allows
the transfers to run more smoothly and quickly, without as much risk of you losing the
connection part-way through the transfer.

Receiving a file
----------------
If you want received files to be saved somewhere other than your desktop, click the
Browse button and select your preferred folder. Now enter the TCP port number that you
wish to listen on. If you do not know what this means then it is recommended that you
leave it on the default setting, port 80. Now simply tick the Receive files box and
you're ready to be sent a file. The sender will need to know your IP address (which
should be displayed in the Your IP box) and the port that you are listening on. If the
port you chose was in use, LP-Transfer will have selected another port automatically
and this port will now be displayed in the TCP port box.

If you are using a router or have a firewall installed, you will probably need to set
up port forwarding for the port you wish to use and/or configure your firewall to allow
LP-Transfer to act as a server.

If you receive any executable files or other files that could contain a virus or any
other harmful material, please scan them before you open them.

Sending a file
--------------
Enter the IP address of the computer that is to receive the file in the Remote user's
IP box. Enter the number of the TCP port they are listening on in the TCP port box.
If you wish to send the file in different sized packets to the default, enter the size
in bytes in the Packet size box. If you do not know what this means or do not have a
specific reason to change this then it is recommended that you leave it on the default
setting, 4608 bytes (4.5 KB). Make sure the person receiving the file has set
LP-Transfer to receive files on their end. Now click Send File and select the file you
wish to send.
