Last stand gives players the ability to survive one attack that would otherwise have killed them. They survive with only one health, but damage dealt is increased, kills grant an extra bonus to score and a powerup, and dealing damage gradually generates shields. Any further damage will kill, though, so cause as much chaos as possible before dying!

When player's health drops below a certain threshold, this mutator can give them:
- extra damage
- extra points for kills
- damage dealt converted to (a small amount of) shields
- powerups on kills (berserk, invulnerability, invisibility, or udamage)
Players can also cheat death and survive with 1 health. This will only happen once per life, and won't work if they take too much damage.
Last Stand works when driving a vehicle, but the vehicle's (not the character's) health is used while driving.
This mutator can be configured in-game using the MUTATE console command. The commands are:
MUTATE LASTSTAND SETTHRESHOLD x
(0.01 <= x <= 0.5)
sets the health threshold as a percentage of maximum health
MUTATE LASTSTAND SETDAMAGE x
(0.0 <= x <= 3.0)
sets the damage multiplier
MUTATE LASTSTAND SETLEECH x
(0.0 <= x <= 0.5)
sets the amount of damage that will be converted to shields
MUTATE LASTSTAND SETBONUS x
(0 <= x <= 5)
sets the bonus points for getting a kill while Last Stand is active
MUTATE LASTSTAND SETSOAK x
(0.0 <= x <= 0.5)
sets how far a player's health can drop below 0 and let the player survive, as a percentage of maximum health
MUTATE LASTSTAND SETPOWERUP [BERSERK|INVISIBILITY|INVULNERABILITY|UDAMAGE|NONE]
sets which powerup is given for a kill while Last Stand is active
MUTATE LASTSTAND SETHEALTHPICKUP [ON|OFF]
sets whether players can pick up health after cheating death
