Destructive forces is a mod for C&C Generals: Zero Hour, that has been primarily made to give players exciting multiplayer game experiences. However, it does of course also come with skirmish support. It includes 12 optimized generals, all with their special uniqueness and powers.

*You'll need "Command & Conquer Generals: Zero Hour"(English) version 1.04 (most recent) installed*

(Please follow these steps for a smooth installation)

1. Make sure you have Zero Hour installed and that it is the updated version. Also make sure that

it is working and unedited.

2. Run the Installation program and follow the steps

3. Start the game by launching Zero Hour like you'd normally do.

The first time you do this it might take a while.

Destructive forces is a mod for C&C Generals: Zero Hour, that has been primarily made to give players exciting multiplayer game experiences. However, it does of course also come with skirmish support. It includes 12 optimized generals, all with their special uniqueness and powers. The generals have been made so that before you go to battle you really have to analyze the type of map and what kind of resistance you may encounter, because one general great against another may be inferior against another. But at the same time, all generals have been given such abilities so that they all should be able to fight on somewhat equal conditions.

The mod focuses on human vs human gameplay and so I have tried to make it as broad as possible to suit any kind of players gamestyle. You will find the ability to wage massive naval wars, huge air battles, extreme tank battles or perhaps you prefer thousands of infantry units fighting each other. You may be the defensive type of player, then play as the artillery general, or maybe you like to play very aggressive, then play as the assault general...You will have all these options available to you.

Some generals will be specialized in one type of fighting, like infantry generals, tank generals and airunit generals, but all will somewhat be able to compete in all genres.

If you like the original Zero Hour, you'll definitely love this mod as it widely expands the game but at the same time holds on to the typical gameplay.

* Max one overlord artillery, also decreased health slightly

* The master defence bunker got upgraded specs; Longer attack range, better armour, now consumes 1 power,

fixed an infantry exploit, made the garrisoned troops immune to clear building attacks and made them sustain

80% shared damage with the bunker. Note that to fix the exploit I had to make the infantry be spawned outside of the bunker.

* The reinforcmentpad now consumes 6 power. Also decreased health.

USA Assault General:

* Blackbird has ammo pips. Now only carries 2 bombs.

* Fixed commanche not recieving any rocket pods after upgrade

* Added a new tank; The "M9E Abrams".

* Replaced the firebase with tomahawk defence.

USA Air force general:

* Glory Pigeon has ammo pips

* Fixed a bug causing the game to crash

UsA Tech&Naval general:

* Can now build pathfinder

* Increased cost for the firebase, also made it consume 2 power.

USA Commander in cheif:

* New model for the crusader artillery

This will provide some great extra boost for the GLA.

United Arabs:

* Fixed a bug triggering a small nuclear explosion when dozer got destroyed.

* A bug caused the following(1) three defences to become useless once the camo upgrade had been bought.

It has now been fixed by removing the upgrade ability:

*(1) Missile anti-air defence. Also increased the range and weapon damage.

*(1) Mega Rocket Defence.

*(1) Cannon defence. Also increased cost and build time.

* UA can now build Angry mob, saboteur and jarmen kell.

* UA can now use the emergency repair.

* Changed the power consumed by research facility from 10 to 3

CHANGES SINCE VERSION 1.0

GENERAL FIXES:

* New naval yards for the GLA and China.

* Introduced a small Beta-AI.

* Added ability to desarm mines for all GLA mine layers

* Added a littlebird to USA Commander in Chief and USA air force general.

* Having many factories will now increase the buildspeed of units in those factories

* Low power can now severly impact on your manufacturing capabilities with as

much as a maximum of 70% drop in producivity.

* When selling one of your buildings you will now only get 35% of it's value back.

* Made infantry (non missile) lesser resistant to tank fire.

* Made small arms fire less effective against tanks and buildings

* Lots of bugfixing and smaller tweaks.

USA Tech&Naval general:

* Added a radar defence structure that will destroy any incoming ballistics.

It has a failprobability of around 5%. That means that of 20 incoming missiles it may

destroy all but one. Doesn't work 100% that way though :P

* Made the firebase cost $300 more

* Made the mammoth tank bigger

* Fixed the bug causing Naval Yard not displaying on a snow map

AIRF general:

* Made so that the apache longbow can't be bought unless you own the RH-66

* Made so that the RH-66 needs strategy center to be built

* Increased price and lowered health for the Osprey

* Slightly increased price for the combat chinook

* Helipad construction now also requires that you have a war factory

* The "Glory pigeon" now has another type of missiles: 6 High explosive type

missiles that will scatter creating a pretty powerful area affect.

* Made the comorca MG:s a lot more powerful (Like 120%)

* Fixed a bug with the "heavy bomberstrike" causing a player to buy the upgrade at lvl 3.

Also decreased it's cost down to two points instead of three.

China EMP&Napalm General:

* The "Detractor cannon" (Chinas EMP General) SW got a 'little' too

powerful in the last remake...heh. So I decreased the damage and

made it a bit more expensive. It will now make about 70-90% damage

on all surrounding buildings from the target area. Structures in the

center of the beam will be destroyed. Surrounding units will mostly die.

China Infantry general:

-----------------------

* Fixed a bug in the "supercannnon bunker". It now functions on snow maps

and when garrisoned.

* When training a red guard you will recive 4. Cost have been increased to $300.

* Made some adjustments to the Harmageddon Nuke.

China Tank&Naval general:

* Added ability to build a fortified bunker in the second commandset for the dozer.

* Fixed the problem causing freezes when using the warfactory

* Added an attack submarine

* Fixed a bug causing players to buy chinas nuclear bombing upgrade too early

China Artillery General:

* Fixed the master defence bunker -snow&garrisoned

* The screamer is now a fighterplane armed with emp-missiles. So therefore it's

one of the best fighters in the game.

GLA Terror leader:

* Added a new bombtruck - Heavy Cargo:

This bombtruck will be available after you have purchased it's science and if you own a palace.

It contains an extremley powerful shockwave bomb.

* Fixed the airfield. The planes will now use all runways and hangars.

* Fixed a bug causing the game to crash when the airfield got destroyed.

* Lowered price for terror mob.

GLA United arabs:

* Fixed a bug causing the research center, rocket defence and defence cannon becoming invisible when

playing on a snow map.

* Added a new superweapon-like:

First you'll have to research upgrades in the research facility, then you will be able to build an airship

that contains the weapon. It can selfdestruct or be destroyed and when it does the superweapon

called "weapon of doom" will be realesed. It is a very powerful weapon and very particle dependant so therefore

it will cost you a bit :P.

* Can now build officers.

* Added a new heavy rocket tank. The scorpion rocket upgrade was moved to the research facility.

GLA Toxic warfare general:

* Added the ability to build a hangar and a suicide plane.

* Added a new Superweapon (Acid rain) that will be available for

construction after you have purchased the science.

* Added a TOxic Waste facility

-------1.2 MOD gameplay-------

******GAMEPLAY*******

* In order to play over LAN or internet your opponent(s) need to have the EXACT

same game files as you do. They will need the same version of the MOD as well

as the same version of ZH. If you make any additions/changes to the code, your

opponent(s) will have to do the same changes in order for the game to work.

* If you experience compatilility issues (like unable to play LAN) please make sure that all players

have the exact same version of Destructive Forces. My recommendation is that all of you should

install this release to avoid any mismatches.

* This mod was created for Human vs Human gameplay.

* All different generals has its pos and cons. Even though one general may seem to

be "better" than another, its really just a matter of how you play. If you for

example play on a map with mostly water then it's your own fault if you choose a

non naval general.

* Only the "Naval" generals have the ability to build naval units.

* The AI has not been scripted/coded properly and thus may/will not work too good.

However, some generals WILL give you a great match on hard or medium but still

the AI is broken, just so you know.

Expect the AI not to use superpowers...

UPDATE:

If you want a real fight against the AI the following generals are recommended as opponents (HARD)

1. USA Commander in Cheif

3. GLA Stealth&Naval general

For best result face 3-7 of them and let them be in the same team.

* On some systems; the game will slow down and lag much if you play on maps with a large

number of obstacles such as hills, water, walleys... This is because the pathfinding in

ZH is crap. Play on flat terrain maps instead, like "whiteout" and such.

----- KNOWN ISSUES/BUGS

----- SERIOUS ERROR/EXTENSIVE LAG/RANDOM CRASHES/BAD PERFORMANCE

* PROBLEM: The "Harmageddon Nuclear Missile" explosion is about the most CPU intense

particle event in the game. Therefore, on low/medium end systems, detonating more

than one simultaneously may cause a "serious error" crash.

SOLUTION: Don't detonate more than one at a time. Lower your graphical settings.

* Just so you know: THe weapon of doom (GLA United Arabs) is extremley CPU intense.

It is not advised to use it in LAN or Internet games.

* PROBLEM: When playing the "China artillery general" you may experience a "serious error"

crash if you launch all available artillery strikes simultaneously.

* Problem: NAVAL YARDS, GENERAL PROBLEM:

To avoid ships being spawned on the ground rather than in the water make sure you do

the following:

- Build the naval yards so that their "main structure" point towards the sea.

* Problem: The "Master defence bunker" (China artillery general) sometimes won't force fire

on some own units.

Solution: Force fire near the unit or another unit and then try to attack the unit

you want to attack.

* Problem: Submarines won't attack other subs.

Solution: Try forcing fire on the water close to the enemy. The torpedos have area effect.

* Problem: The "nuke defence cannon" doesnt automatically attack enemy units whitin range.

Solution: Not really sure why this happens. It doesnt always happen.

Switching to neutron shells solves the problem though.

* Problem: The "Portable nuke launcher"s nuclear missile won't detonate when targeting some

friendly units (infantry).

Solution:Don't know why it's like this... If you want to kill your own ppl then target

the ground next to the units instead.

* Problem: Once the GLAs "super Scud Storm" is garrisoned, forcing fire will also

make the scuds launch.

Solution: This is a bug, however since the distance is so limited, abuse of this bug in play

is negligable. Who wan't to launch a scud storm in his own base?

* Problem: The GLA toxin generals artillery cannon doesn't always target enemies...Fucked up...

***Shortcut defects***(Shortcuts known to be malfunctioning or not functional)

GLA - Toxic warfare general: Toxic barrel drop will only work from Command Center.

GLA - Terror leader: Terror bombing will only work from CC.

China - Artillery general: Massive artillery nuclear bombard shortcut appears at start

but will only be functional after the artillery command has been built.

China - EMP&Napalm general: The detractor shortcut doesnt show up in the shortcut bar

* SERIOUS ERROR:

Mostly caused by these three things:

* Memory leak/AI script

* Error in the code

* Overheating

GENERAL FIX:

* Make sure you have installed the latest drivers for your system hardware

* Close ALL background tasks and programs (Like MSN, Firewalls, download clients, [Other stuff]).

Check your processes in the task manager, close those that you don't need.

* Scan for viruses (Recommended tool: Nod32)

* Scan for adware (Recommended tool: Adaware)

* Restart your computer (May sound silly but sometimes this works...)

* Defragment your HDD (recommended tool: Diskeeper)

* Clean your registry (Recommended tool: RegistryBooster or RFA)

* Increase your windows swap-file (recommended: 3 GB for 1GB RAM)

* Reset any overclocked hardware

* Decrease graphical settings in the game

---Slow performance in games---

_WHEN?

When playing on maps with cliffs, valleys, mountains and other obstacles.

_Why?

Because the Zero Hour AI pathfinding scripts are ugly.

_FIX?

Play on flat terrain maps like "whiteout". Or use worldbuilder and make better AI scripts.

---Memory leak---

_WHEN?

Randomly, but often when lots of stuff is going on IG.

_WHY?

There is a large memory leak in C&C Generals ZH. This is a general problem known to the

developers who claim there is nothing that can be done to fix it.

The problem mostly occurs when playing against HARD AI enemies.

The AI scripting causes an overload on the swap file usage of ZH that eventually causes

the game to crash because of

corrupted/overloaded memory data.

_FIX? After starting C&C Generals ZH, tab out to your windows desktop

(eg. press the windows key). Now press ctrl+Alt+Delete to enter the task manager.

Check the "processes" tab and set a priority of "LOW" on game.dat and "HIGH" on generals.exe.

Now close it and return to your game. It should fix it... at least limit it...

----Error in the code---

_WHEN?

Happens at certain situations. Eg: If the game always crashes after you bild the "X" unit,

then you can be sure its a bug in the code.

_WHY?

Because I screwed up the code or the game didnt understand it

_FIX?

Let me know about the problem and I'll get it fixed

----Overheating---

_WHEN?

When your hardware fails

_WHY?

Because of overheating, driver malfunction or other

_FIX?

Reset any overclocked hardware

Decrease graphical settings in the game

Get proper cooling equipment

Download latest drivers for your hardware

etc....

* EXTENSIVE LAG:

If this occurs while playing against AI player - check "memory leak" above.

If this occurs while playing against Human players:

* Make sure you have a stable connection with each other.

* Follow steps in "GENERAL FIX"

* RANDOM CRASHES:
