Description: Half-Life 2 - DM_Plaza17 Map Final

Frag it out in this highly visual Half-Life 2 DM map, complete with a train bridge running overhead and a cool music player in the plaza.

This is also a great place for team deathmatch, with each team spawning on opposite sides of the map and fighting to control the central building.

Build Time: 10 days construction, then endless optimization to clean up the mess I had made. Yes, this was my first HL2 map, so I thought I was still on the Unreal Engine.


Inspiration
Half-Life 2's City 17, my old ghetto neighborhood where I grew up, and the hill neighborhoods of southern California. HL2's rural areas look very much like California's, and parts of this map follow that inspiration closely.


Strategies
Patrol to and from the various explosive items, trying to control the SMG Grenades and AR2 Plasma Balls. There is also a hidden AR2 Ball and SMG Grenade that cannot be seen or reached from the ground. Look for the Lambda symbols.
