Companion Share/Recruit adds a few lesser powers (conferred by meeting a mage in the Arcane University gardens) that allow you to access anyone's inventories, recruit any NPC in Tamriel to serve your cause, and order your followers about. Provided, of course, they like you.
By undergoing a (very) short quest to restore the honour of a disgraced general, several generals will pledge alleigance to you, and allow you to assign units of your followers for them to control, even conferring some of their strengths to those in their units.
Now you can actually have a use for those gibbering student mages, and the Devoted Fan can serve as a handy pack pony (or, even better, see how he fares with a claymore and an amulet of constant effect rally). Of course, if you feel the Imperial Legion could spare half a dozen guards to help you raid an Oblivion gate, well that's fine too. And it'd be remiss of you not to to equip them with all that leftover Oblivion loot whilst you're in there...
This mod uses no dialogue, only script-effect spells, and so is compatible with any and all companion mods.
Disclaimer: Whilst this mod should work fine, never give NPCs unique or quest-related items just in case.
