I created this video because simply I was getting bored of waiting for NS 3.0 Final to be released, so I thought i'd do something constructive with my time, and this video was the product.

There are a few background notes you need to know, this is a video showing jumps in Natural Selection a Half Life mod. The video itself only includes Marine jumps, none by the Kharaa.

To give you an understanding of the physics behind the jumps here is a quick description of the physics:

Basically, NS is a Half-Life mod, and therefore also uses Half-Life (and quake 1 in part) physics. Due to this, you can use bunnyhopping to gain extra speed. The Natural-Selection developers made some slight changes, however.

First of all: You don't lose your speed when hitting the speed cap (being 1.6 times your normal running speed), instead you just stop gaining any more speed.

Second: Marines can't bunnyhop. If you jump twice without pausing in between when you're a marine, you'll lose speed in a way similar to the way you lose speed when you jump in CS. There is a way to partially dodge this, however. If you can jump onto a part of the map that's significantly higher than the one you jumped from, you won't lose speed.

Crouch-jumping and then jumping normally will net you the same effect (due to the altitude change). Armament and the amount of ammo carried also plays an effect, as you run slower when you're equipped with anything but just knife which is why you will see I carry nothing more than a knife for all the jumps in this video.

Also picking up catalyst packs will also remove the bunnyhopping nerf for marines for a short period of time and grants an extra speed boost.

Finally as mentioned with NS jumped video, these jumps may not look impressive to non NS players, but don't bother criticising until you've actually tried some of these ;)
