The Homer Mk2 UT2K3 Voicepack -By deadboy 8/11/2003 (for more voicepacks http://www.geocities.com/jcaucig/mypage)

A moddifed an improved Homer voice based on Fraggin_Phun's Homer which was based on Homer Stud's UT Homer voice. I felt some of Homer's UT2003 taunts were neither taunts nor appropriate. Also I improved Homers Orders and Other sounds. I didn't change any sounds only the organization of the voice pack. I have kept the improved Homer pack voice pack private for months, because there already was a Homer pack, but friends told me I was being selfish.



INSTALLATION

Place Homer_.u and Homer_.upl in your UT2003/System directory
Place Homerskins.utx in the UT2003/textures directory (Note: the utx file is only an in game photo, and not a model skin)

IF you just want voice you are done.



If you want to use voice with the Homer model ( downloaded seperately from http://planetunreal.com/identitycrisis/cabins/intertwined/ ) then extract Homer.upl for older Homer model, or Homer2003.upl for new Homer model.

If you want to use voice and model together you are done.

OPTIOPNAL
You MAY ( not neccessary ) edit your user.ini file to use the new character. Change the [DefaultPlayer] section of the user.ini as follows:

[DefaultPlayer]

Name= (whatever you like)

Class=Engine.Pawn

Character=Homer_

team=0


You can also select Homer as a bot if You use custom bots option.

----- Set up UT2003.ini and MD5 database for running a server -----

To use the new Voice Pack in online games, you must provide the .u file and the .upl file to the server administrator. The server administrator must put these in their UT2003\System folder, and edit the UT2003.ini file by adding the package to the [Engine.GameEngine] section, as follows:

[Engine.GameEngine]
CacheSizeMegs=32
...
ServerPackages=Homer_

Very important: The server administrator must also rebuild the server's MD5 database by running the following command in a DOS / Command window in the \UT2003\System folder (many thanks to ZYX2323 for sending this information!)

For original retail version: UCC MASTERMD5 *.U
For patch 2136 version: UCC MASTERMD5 -c *.U

If you don't run the ucc mastermd5 command, servers with cheat/hack protection turned on will stop you from joining the server. All sorts of bad things will happen (trust me), including corrupt connection messages (often seen only after the first game). This is a standard restriction that affects all voice packs, unless the server has added the .u file AND rebuilt their master MD5 table (or added the packed to the existing MD5 database).




Known Bugs- Homer's picture won't appear in team games, but this occurs with all custom pics currently.
