The map consits of the small mountain village Rjukan, a lodge where the commandoes may hide, an alternate crossing route and of course the heavywater facility itself.
Briefing
We are a newly founded map-group from Norway, named Slapmaps. We have just fininshed our first map, but not the last. The map is about Operation Gunnerside, the sabotage raid of the heavywater plant in Rjukan (in Telemark, Norway). The map is kinda similar to the Telemark map made by Flatline 44, but our`s is a lot more historically accurate. In our opinion it provides way better gaming experience.
We have modified both the willy and the kubelwagen into winter editions, the jeep mods are included in the map. We have also added Nazi banners and signs.
Historical facts:
On a moonlit winter night in 1943, nine Norwegian commandoes, trained and equipped in England, infiltrated the most heavily defended structure in occupied Europe - Vemork, Norway. Your objective is to stop the heavy water production and force the axis to withdraw. Four months earlier, three-dozen British soldiers had tried and died on a similar mission, without even gaining sight of their target. But you are destined to have a different fate...
After skillfully climbing the "unscaleable" (and therefore undefended) gorge below the Vemork facility; they snuck into the facility, set and detonated their demolition charges, and escaped back down into the gorge without having to fire a single shot. This attack was the climax of the Allied efforts to deny Germany the bomb.
The map is conquest only with Americans fighting the German. The map consits of the small mountain village Rjukan, a lodge where the commandoes may hide, an alternate crossing route and of course the heavywater facility itself. And a huge snow covered mountain area with a lot of trees.
