The Bender UT2K3 Voicepack 1.1 -By deadboy 1/24/2003 (for more voicepacks http://www.geocities.com/jcaucig/mypage)

Update: The file names have been changed to allow use with Bender Model. A Bender.upl is included to use this voice pack with the model. Or just replace voice=Bendervoice.bendervoice with voice=Bender_.Bender_ to the Models Bender.upl.

Alert: Alert if you have any of the files from original Bender Voicepack the model won't work. Delete all of them. Remembers to delete BenderXskins.utx as well.

This voicepack is based largely, on The UT Bender voice pack v1.0 by ClydeFrog. Bender ( aka Bender unit 22) is the the surly drunken robot from televsion's "Futurama". Built to bend girders, Bender got fed up with his career and began a new life as part of the Planet Express delivery crew, and through circumstances too complicated to explain, joined the Tournament. This soundpack has 77 sounds all Bender, including 41 taunts, 8 acknowledgements, 5 friendly fire, all orders and other sounds.

It should be noted that I also did the voicepack for Slyrr's awesome Bender model ( http://www.ut2003hq.com/pafiledb/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=1540 ) That voicepack is even bigger and better than this one.


INSTALLATION

Place Bender_.u and Bender_.upl in your UT2003/System directory
( ONLY EXTRACT bender.upl if you have the model and you want to use this voicepack)

Place BentXskins.utx in the UT2003/textures directory (Note: the utx file is only an in game photo, and not a model skin)


That's all you need to do, unless you are running a server.

You MAY ( I don't think this is neccessary ) edit your user.ini file to use the new character. Change the [DefaultPlayer] section of the user.ini as follows:

[DefaultPlayer]

Name= (whatever you like)

Class=Engine.Pawn

Character=Bender_

team=0

Optionally add the text from Bender.XPlayersint.txt to your UT2003\System\XPlayers.int file

You can also select Bender as a bot if You use custom bots option.

----- Set up UT2003.ini and MD5 database for running a server -----

To use the new Voice Pack in online games, you must provide the .u file and the .upl file to the server administrator. The server administrator must put these in their UT2003\System folder, and edit the UT2003.ini file by adding the package to the [Engine.GameEngine] section, as follows:

[Engine.GameEngine]

Very important: The server administrator must also rebuild the server's MD5 database by running the following command in a DOS / Command window in the \UT2003\System folder (many thanks to ZYX2323 for sending this information!)

For original retail version: UCC MASTERMD5 *.U
For patch 2136 version: UCC MASTERMD5 -c *.U

If you don't run the ucc mastermd5 command, servers with cheat/hack protection turned on will stop you from joining the server. All sorts of bad things will happen (trust me), including corrupt connection messages (often seen only after the first game). This is a standard restriction that affects all voice packs, unless the server has added the .u file AND rebuilt their master MD5 table (or added the packed to the existing MD5 database).




Known Bugs- Bender's picture won't appear in team games, but this occurs with all custom pics currently.
